📜 Rules & Philosophy

We follow all the official rules as established by the format's creator, Martin Berlin. The core philosophy of our group aligns completely with the official Premodern Magic the Gathering community.

🖨️ Proxy Guidelines

We want the barrier to entry for Premodern to be as low as possible. 100% proxied decks are fully allowed, provided they meet these standards for board state clarity:

Visual Standards (Required)

Full Color Only: No black-and-white prints. Card recognition relies on art and color identity.
Original Art: Please use official Magic the Gathering card art (any printing by WotC is fine). Alternate fan-made art is not allowed (except for tokens).
No Hand-Written Cards: "Sharpie" proxies are not permitted.

Approved Proxy Methods

Budget (The Sleeve Method)

Use Proxxied.com to generate printable sheets. Cut these out and slide them into a sleeve in front of a basic land. This is the standard for most players.

Premium (Professional Prints)

We recommend using MPCfill.com with MakePlayingCards.com. (Ensure you use a non-standard card back to comply with copyright policies.)

Table Etiquette: The goal is a seamless play experience. If your proxies look like the real thing or a reasonable facsimile from across the table, you're in good shape.

🎴 No Deck? No Problem.

Looking to try the format but don't have the cardboard? I will have a pool of 12 complete preconstructed decks with me. I will be piloting one, leaving 11 available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis. These include full 15-card sideboards!
